Sabrina - Where were you?
This article is about a Bengal Cat called Sabrina (Pedigree name Glitterglam
FeeBee)
living at
www.strawbellcats.co.uk . She is one of our
Bengal Queens that boasts a long
body with beautiful long legs, a
bold face with
wild looking eyes and a real dog like temperament!

Although this picture is not showing her shinny golden
coat that holds her big spots well in place, they are
there, trust me they are!
Our Bengal Cat Sabrina came to Strawbell from
Glitterglam at three months old with her sister.
She built a close bond with Merrissa (my daughter) whereby she would
follow her around and sprint to greet her when ever she entered the room.
Although she would produce the Bengal Cat purr and allow the rest of the family
to play with her, Sabrina's attention is generally
focused on Merrissa.
At 11 months of age Sabrina fell pregnant for
Bambino
Wild Card, one of Strawbell's Bengal stud boys. In
April 08 during the early weeks of her pregnancy, we
had a period of thunder and lightening and Sabrina ran
out of the door at the same time as a bout of thunder.
The thunderous noise frightened her and she kept
running. We searched and called for days with no
response from Sabrina. We were all very worried about her
because we knew wherever she was, she would be terrified.
We placed posters in pet shops, locally and dropped
leaflets into letter boxes of our surrounding areas
searching for our Bengal Cat Sabrina.
One week later, in Mid April 08 we were dressed and
ready to make our way to a meeting when the phone rang
to say that a cat with Sabrina's description was
captured in a house directly behind our garden. We
rushed to the house desperately hoping it would be
our Bengal Cat Sabrina. We were so excited; we did not even wait
to look for a carrier box to fetch her home.
Merrissa rang the doorbell and an elderly couple answered the
door. The elderly lady had deep scratches on both of her arms.
I
was shocked to think that Sabrina could do something
like that to anyone. |
The elderly gentleman then brought a big
cat with scattered spots on it's coat that looked
nothing like Sabrina or a Bengal Cat. This cat was licking its
lips with the chicken they had fed him to keep him
quiet. The cat ran off without a trace. We got the
impression that this big cat (that looked well fed)
bullied the elderly couple for a good half hour.
We wanted to ensure that they had proper treatment for
the wounds they received from the cat. We then took off
to the meeting really down hearted.
Another week had past and it rained constantly. It
was a Tuesday in mid April 08 when we were getting dressed
to go to our meeting and the phone rang again. It
was a
lady who had sighted a Bengal cat with the description of Sabrina on her wall.
She said the cat was not responding to anyone.
Merrissa and Trevor (my husband) rushed to the house to
find Sabrina sitting on the wall -
Merrissa shouted
"Sabrina" and Sabrina jumped into her arms
with relief.
She was very skinny and dull looking. Sabrina then settled back home and started eating for
England! Where ever she was, she certainly had no
food to eat.

Sabrina's pregnancy progressed safely and she spend most of her
time eating. We can only assume that she hid and sheltered from the
rain for most of the time with hunger. She grew
and grew and produced four very tiny Bengal babies just
like her Bengal Stud, Wild Card, their father on 1st June 2008 with big
spots, deep tear drops and big eyes. We did not
think they would survive as they were so small.
These four
Bengal Kittens
turned out to be girls of excellent quality, healthy, fully
checked by our Vets and beaming with all the Bengal kitten
traits of intelligence and stamina which have all gone to new
adoptive parents. See some of Sabrina's
Bengal kitten photographs as they
grew up pictured below! |
